Sober October has drawn to an end. Will I celebrate by getting hammered? Probably not. But I’ll have a glass of wine.
As I said in this post, cutting out sugar and alcohol was relatively easy, especially in a partial lockdown. What I found difficult was to cut out caffeine. The first week was hell, the rest were far easier. I considered abandoning coffee for good, but that idea didn’t last very long. I love coffee. I love the ritual. I love the smell, the taste, the culture. As they say “you pick your vices”, and coffee is one I can live with.
I may not be sticking with the coffee abstinence, but I will be sticking with the yoga. I’ve enjoyed my 30-day challenge so much more than I expected. I’ve learned a lot about my body, what yoga is, and what it isn’t. For the first time in my life, I’m confident to practice without the guidance of a video, which is an empowering feeling. Thank you, Yoga with Adriene!
Now that Sober October is over, I’ll be doing a new month-long challenge – Movember!
The idea behind Movember is to raise awareness of men’s health issues, focusing on prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and mental health. It’s a very important cause, and should be a good laugh, as I have the beard-growing capabilities of a seven-year-old.
So, you can look forward to photos of my upper lip for the next four weeks!
P.S. If you’d like those photos straight to your inbox (who wouldn’t), sign up to my mailing list below!
